Wow I was looking at MTV the other day and saw an interesting video. The song is called "STILL A BOSS"

I was totally tickled. It was a mashup done for Comedy Central but I found it absolutely amusing.

If you are offended by swearing mmmmm bypass this song but you HAVE To hear this.

Woman Thou Art Loosed Day Two

Well so much happened yesterday that I had to log out of the service for Woman Thou Art Loosed. I was beside myself because I know I missed a powerful word of encouragement.
Now let me just make this clear. I was raised in the black church a baptist black church. I am by no means trying to convert anyone to what I have been raised to believe.
Here is another shocker as well I believe that there are loads of things to believe in and that what you believe in is where you are spiritually. That does not mean that I do not believe in Jesus Christ because I certainly do but I have one question and that is this,...what if you have never been introduced to Jesus Christ? What if you never knew his name and you were raised in a family that never mentioned or talked about the Bible or anything else for that matter?
What if you were raised Muslim or Jewish or Buddhist does that make you a bad person because you were raised to believe what you do? Or what if you were raised to not believe anything. What if your experiences have shown you that there is more to what we are being taught and you find that out on your own in your own experiences?
That's what happened to me. I learned that I need to respect and honor religions even the ones that knock on my door asking me to take a booklet. Oh you know the one I am talking about! I don't even have to say their names you know them. I learned however that there is nothing like living and being and learning that the life that you live is really just your experiences and that each one is part of your journey of learning on this plane. Now no one taught me that. No one gave me a word in a book or knocked on my door or sprinkled me with oil for me to understand that.
So with that said let me say this. I absolutely love the Woman Thou Art Loosed Conferences. I went to the first one EVER. And I was blown away. I needed to hear what this man was preaching and I have never forgotten that day because that was the day that I learned that God really did love me. ME
That was so long ago. So now in the new era that I am in with my life I love hearing from TD Jakes and all of his powerful speakers. I go away empowered and encouraged to keep going. And you know who in the world does not need that in the real scheme of things right?

Juneteenth DVD Party Pictures

So we are still here at the office of Queen City Camden dot com and doing the final work on getting ready to release a completed work called "Juneteenth In Camden - A Walk Through History".
I hired a camera crew back during the summer to film Juneteenth in Camden, Arkansas and had it edited as well. Now comes the fun part for me and that's getting it ready for the public to get a hold of.
It's so important to get this info out to as many people as possible. Salim Uhuru who is on the video with me is giving great historic information about the history of Juneteenth and some truths that we really don't know about as Americans and not just African Americans.
So it's my first film if you will. I'm kind of proud of it. I think we did a pretty good job of getting the information out to people.
So we cooked at the office today cause we knew we were going to be here all night well least I will.
Here we are sans KJ who refused to hold still. Mamma, Imani and Lili.
Imani with the headset doing her thing working online for queencitycamden, me with a pre forty wrinkle on my forehead dreads pulled back hoping that I could get this moving a bit faster than it's going.

Lili is just fever free and happy to be in a picture how bout that?
My nerves are shot, I am hoping that it will be liked and that people won't make this out to be about race but about history.

Lili Is Sick and Shucking Corn

Two days ago the school called me and said I needed to come pick up Lili because she has a fever of 100.2. I freaked because the first thing that comes to my mind is Swine Flu I know it's going around and I had been careful to make sure my little one washed her hands and used sanitizer all the time. Now this?
Ok lets talk about this...her pediatrician is so booked right now that he won't be able to see her until next week Thursday! Thursday!? COME ON!
So the nurse from his office called and said she had called over medicine to keep her fever down. What? First of all I'm already doing that. That's a done deal. What I want is for you to SEE HER make sure she is not infected with H1N1 and do something more than just call in some Children's Tylenol where I am going to have to co pay for ir and I already have some at the house.
So I called the free clinic. They're book too. My gracious they are not even taking walk ins at this point. What kind of silliness is that prey tell?
So poor Lili goes back to my office with me and we sit around shucking corn to put in the slow cooker for dinner tonite. Yes oh well I might as well keep her busy and fever free while I figure out does she go back to school or does she take more time out of school and wait on the doctor's office to find the time to fit her in? Walking in was a nightmare. Absolute nightmare. We were never seen since he was called away to deliver a baby.
One thing is for sure, she certainly can clean an ear of corn before its to be cooked.

My Goodness,..Who Knew?

Back when I was living in Atlanta yep the big ATL, working in corporate America as a Systems Engineer, I would take my weekends to shop. I would always hit up all of the places that offered the corporate casual clothes I liked along with a touch of style. That has not been that long ago only about six years ago or so. I would shop at discount stores and consignment shops the most.
One store I would always drive by but never stop to see what was inside was Talbots. For shame! But I can remember my teachers and the prominent women in my community where I grew up always saying things like, "My goodness Marge, that is so lovely! Where'd you get that, Talbots?" and she would be dressed head to toe in complete herringbone or plaid wool with a scarf wrapped around her neck. I'm laughing thinking about it because they were dignified women, upstanding women, with a reputation to back them up. So I took Talbots to be the place that you went when you "made it" the place to go when you were over forty. So I never stopped to see what Talbot's had to offer me.
Well, well, well boy have times changed! So I'm online looking around and fell upon wouldn't you just know, Talbots. Either I'm close to forty which I am or Talbots has done some things different with their styling options. So rather than scoot on over to another clothing site to shop online I got nosey and stuck around Talbots' website to get a closer look.
Nice classic site love the layout and the rich warm colors. I just went through the site looking at the different styles and clothes. Very, very nice. Mamma would wear this and not my Mamma, I am talking about me. Wait a minute....... Talbots has style that I would wear everyday!
Then the daydreaming started. What would I do if I won a $500 gift card to shop exclusively at Talbots. So I decided to have some fun with this and go "shopping" at Talbots.
Suits, I love casual wear let me just show you a few that I found. My goodness these colors are gorgeous.


Now tell me you couldn't see yourself in this outfit being comfortable and looking great. I know I would. Wait there's more! Hold on let me get this for you.
This flirty skirt is screaming fall and auburn colors and gorgeous boots to flatter it! Look at the detail and the rich color on it. You know you feel the season don't you? Come on, admit it.


Who knew? Who knew Talbots had beautiful pieces? I certainly didn't. Hold on, hold on. I'm still on my shopping spree with my $500 remember? Shoes I gotta have shoes, lets look for shoes.



Now with booties like these that adds a touch of sexy to any outfit for fall and at $104.00, that's a price that screams quality and staying power in the closet for years to come. Not just for the season which really is what I think about when I think about Talbots.

Now look at this. Seriously hold on don't leave just yet. I found this tunic sweater in the outlet department on Talbots' website.

This tunic sweater was only $24.99 in the outlet area and I found a lot of other cute things besides in the outlet area. Who knew? I mean really who knew?
What's my point here in this post? Don't become to rigid in what we think of what our mothers and aunties wore. They had great style and flair and shopped at Talbots. Now I see why, Talbots has gorgeous quality clothes that you can put in your closet and wear from season to season unlike the ten dollar stores which by the way I frequent for myself.
The website is really nice too. I see they have this place here where you can post your experiences with Talbots, you can see the Style Advisor, and this thing called Pearls of Wisdom complete with how to videos like how to tie a scarf. Mmm nice. Thumbs up Talbots! You are communicating with us, becoming a part of our lives.
Now THAT any woman would love that. You want to be a part of our lives and become "Our Obsession" Who knew?

Inspired To Inspire

So I am in the middle of thinking about my life. Yep here we go again. Another year has just about passed me and I am turning another year older in a few weeks.
So much has happened to me this year that I wanted to take the entire month to celebrate the joy of this thing we call LIFE. (Boy almost sounded like a Prince song). This is going to be hard because the year brought me some interesting things.
So I decided to take a look and reflect over all of the things all of the signs. The first thing I wanted to do was say what it is I will and will not do anymore and shed all of those things. Then I wanted to make sure that in the place of that I make the choice to never look back and continue to move forward.
Now what that means is this. I don't have to be in the box that people have set up for me ever again. I can love those people, I can laugh and talk with those people and live my life the way that I should from this month on for the rest of my life without feeling like I need to apologize for where I am in my life. Period.
The pain is intense as I adjust to this new frequency I am on. It feels like I am sea sick some days and sometimes it feels like I am about to explode since I feel like I am going through withdrawal. But this change is necessary. Change is good right? Well like I always tell you,...I will keep you posted. I hate to be so vague but I think this really needs to be since it is SO personal and deep to me. My life is at stake here and there can be no negative influence and no mistakes at all. NONE.
All you need to know is the shift has begun.

Me My Locks and I I Got Length

So now here I am with more length to my hair. I like the way that it is starting to hang past my shoulders a bit. Boy did that take a long time. It seemed like I was never going to get to this point with it either.
I can remember when I first cut it and was bold enough to walk around bald before it grew out. Now it seems I have bit of sexy going on with the hair and face all matching together.
Problem is this. It seems to be growing faster than I can keep it tightened and Lord knows that I like to keep it tight all the time.
So I'm not going to talk long today I just wanted to post pics of me and my locks and let you know how they are doing.
