My Hair Regimen

I have been getting a lot of people that ask me what I use on my hair to keep it looking so healthy. First off let me say this, pictures can be deceiving but thanks for the compliment! Secondly I thought since I was in the process of buying my shampoo and conditioners again I would snap a picture of what I use.
Now in terms of what I do to get the size of my locks the way I did was microbraiding my own hair from a perm and that was it. I let it go from there. It was not that hard since I wore micros more than I did anything else and felt more comfortable with them as opposed to a perm which because of the texture of my hair tore it out since I have three different textures. Very curly and fine in the back, on the side kinky curly and thick and wiry on top. So I was getting a super duper perm and it was burning my edges and the back of my head constantly to the point my hair stayed short because I didn't understand how complex my hair was and my mom's only response was "you need beer let's wash it with beer" So we washed it with beer. We bought super grow products out of the back of Jet and Ebony magazine that according to the pictures they showed promised long and shiny locks if you just bought this product and used it. So my mom bought it and we used it and nothing happened. What was worse was she and my great aunt wore their hair in two ponytails until Momma got sick of it and whacked it off to be cool. But not Aunt Teedee she wanted to prove her ethnicity. Lolol I don't get it. So my siblings got momma's hair, I got my dad's how lovely.
Now my hair is starting to touch the middle of my back and past my shoulders. With no help from beer, fake products ordered from the back of magazines, no creamy crack promising you whispy fine hair that will blow in the wind and no hot combs to burn your ears and forehead on picture day when you are in the second grade. How cool is that?
Here are the products I currently use to make sure that I my hair is conditioned and well oiled without being weighed down.
Hydroveil Moisturizing 2 in 1 Shampoo with Peppermint Oil and Jojoba Oil and Hydroveil Scalp and Hair mist with Echinacea. With the shampoo what I do is just use a little bit mixed with water to loosen the concentration. That way I won't have build up in my hair. What I have found out is that what I thought was lint was shampoo buildup. So I eased up on the concentrated version and just watered it down. After a good shampoo I just spray my hair down with the Hydroveil Hair Mist with the Echinacea which is clear. I say that because again I am learning that the less you put on your hair in terms of products the less build up you get which is great cause locks can pick up anything.
So here is a picture of my favorite products and some glossing I use on Lili's locks.
Remember if you are going to be natural take care of your hair just like you would if it were permed. Low maintenance is not NO Maintenance.

Til Next Time
