Change Began Long Ago

A wonderful man was born January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was named Michael Luther according to story tellers at the house where his birth home is now a national park. However his grandmother stated that he NEEDED to be called Martin Luther. Almost as if his assignment in life had come with him. (It Did)
But even before his speech, change was beginning. Blacks we growing businesses and townships and cities all over the United States. We were standing up even in the midst of beatings, rapes, murders and injustices, change was still coming. It was inevitable.
There was such a time as this for Dr. King. There was a time for Medgar Evers, for Rosa Parks, Emmett Till, for thousands of others who believed that there was a place for them in this United States. There was a time for Asian, Hispanic or Latino, Native American, Indian, all people to find their place. Not just Black people not just us but everyone. Poor, rich, uneducated, educated, people that feel like they don't count. Somewhere even in the midst of the tiniest towns people are making changes and have been.
The evidence showed that we as a people can make the change.
What I believe is this and since this is my blog I'll say what I want. This election is NOT I repeat NOT the end. It is NOT a victory to only be shared by African Americans only even though it touched me deeply and I cried with joy that Barack Obama won the election. This is election is really a representation of more than a black man winning. This is a representation that with hard work, determination, drive, positive people behind you, loving family, through all of the adversity of press, and blogs and death threats CHANGE continued to come. No matter what change was coming. This is NOT Brother Obama's fight alone, it is all of ours. (More to come on that later) In that statement I think we should all look at our lives and the change we made in it and how his walk to the White House can stand as an example of how we can fight on through whatever we are dealing with.
All bets are off now. No more excuses. I can't stop, I can't let adversity stop me any longer it didn't stop the Obama's, it didn't stop Dr. King, it didn't stop so many that are successful at what they do. They kept going.
Look at that part of the story. Not the end result but the struggle to get to the desired end which only begins another story.

To honor Dr. King I wanted to show his "I Have A Dream Speech"
Think about what he is saying and how his walk in life in some way affected the life you are living today.

Til Next Time
